Key Skills / Requirements
Job requirements:
- Teach students study skills, note taking skills, and test taking strategies
- Schedule tutoring appointments with students
- Assess students’ progress throughout tutoring sessions
- Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students
- Communicate students’ progress to students in written progress reports, in person, by phone, or by e-mail
- Participate in training development sessions to improve tutoring practices, learn the online Learning Management System (Moodle) or learn new tutoring techniques
- Prepare online activities for tutoring sessions
- Maintain records of student’s assessment results, progress, and feedback, ensuring confidentiality of all records
- Identify, develop, or implement intervention strategies and tutoring plans
- Develop training materials, like hand-outs, revision activities, or quizzes
- Organise the online tutoring environment to promote productivity learning
- Provide private instruction to individual or small groups of students to improve academic
- performance or prepare for subject tests
- Prepare and facilitate tutoring workshops or academic support sessions for small groups of students
- where needed
- Travel to a student support centre to conduct tutoring sessions where needed
- Research or recommend textbooks, software, equipment, or other learning materials to compliment tutoring
- Review subject material with student by discussing text, working solutions to problems, reviewing worksheets or other assignments
Minimum Requirements:
- Teaching experience in one or more of the Zama Futhi Matric subjects at grade 11 and 12 level
- Minimum of three years’ teaching experience
- Computer Literate
- Ability to work under pressure, independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven track record of excellent time management and administrative skills
