Key Skills / Requirements

The primary responsibility of this individual is to take the lead in maintaining and supporting the DC, Server, Networking, Security & VOIP infrastructures across various locations of an organization to ensure that its users can easily access mission-critical applications. The individual troubleshoots issues at the DC, Server, Network and PC levels.

This Specialist must not only be well-versed in the ins-and-outs of IT structures — he/she must be suited to work under pressure when infrastructures go down and must also be excellent at both deductive and inductive reasoning and must be able to make sound decisions within a short period of time.

 

Education (Formal Qualification certifications) Minimum

  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP
  • Fortinet NSE4 or above
  • Microsoft MCSA or MCSE
  • Microsoft Azure Certification
  • Secure E-Mail Gateways
  • Web & Application Security
  • VMWare certifications
  • Cyber Security Knowledge
  • Understanding of ITIL principles/processes
  • Well skilled in VMWare & Hyper-V Hypervisor Platforms – Extensive
  • Well skilled in Microsoft Server & Linux Server Operating Systems – Extensive
  • Well skilled in Veeam Backup & Disaster Recovery platforms – Extensive
  • Well skilled in Fortinet Fabric (FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiExtender, FortiWeb, FortiEMS, FortiClient, VPN, FortiSDWAN)
  • Well skilled in VMWare Aria Suite (Operations, Automation, Network Insights and Logs)
  • Sound knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker
  • Hybrid Cloud IT experience (e.g. AWS certification)
  • Understanding SIP, VOIP
  • Driver’s License
  • 15 Years’ Experience working as a Technical Specialist (Cluster, Server, Network & VOIP) in DC environments & support for a large organization
  • 10 Years’ Experience functioning in a Technical Specialist role

Advantageous

  • Experience within a school setting with insight into nuances of education specific technology requirements

 

The responsibilities are:

Infrastructure & Networks

  • Work alongside different support teams in order to support, maintain and administrate the DC, server, network, security and VOIP platforms within existing and/or legacy systems.

 

Establishing the Platforms & Infrastructure

  • Assist the Infrastructure Architects to establish server & application specifications by consulting with end-users. They also analyze workflow and security requirements. In addition, they administrate the performance statistics such as availability, uptime, patch management and application throughput. Implement complex computer systems and infrastructure services.

Monitoring & maintaining the infrastructure

  • Infrastructure and VOIP monitoring and analysis are core duties in this area. Troubleshooting infrastructure problems and ultimately enhancing performance for users via performance tuning are essential responsibilities. Execution of Incident, Change, Release, Problem, Performance, and Availability Management.

Securing the Infrastructure

  • Maintain and administrate secure infrastructure, server, application & VOIP access protocols and monitor and evaluate them for issues. Good documentation and record keeping skills are essential. They also prepare users to utilize the infrastructure efficiently by conducting relevant training sessions and providing helpful references and easily accessible support. They will also address any issues related to ICT security and performance

Upgrading the Infrastructure, VOIP and Security

  • Assist the Infrastructure Architect to upgrade the infrastructure, server and cluster platforms & VOIP services. Test, evaluate, and install service enhancements to ensure that they are the best choices. These upgrades will only be performed after hours following set change control regulations.

 

Backup and DR

  • Ensure and secure backup and recovery of important data that is stored on the CURRO HOLDINGS Network. The data to backup includes all core data saved in Curro Datacentre or core applications running in CURRO HOLDINGS Datacentre.
  • Ensure the recovery of data in any circumstance, including fire, catastrophic hardware or software failure, file deletion or virus or hacker attack. Data can be destroyed by system malfunction or accidental or intentional means. Adequate backups will allow data to be readily recovered as necessary.
  • This will be done according to Company Policy and regulations.

Updating Job Knowledge & Security

  • Keep updated on knowledge in their field of expertise. They must participate in relevant educational opportunities such as live classes and webinars, read professional publications, network with other professionals, and maintain active memberships in professional organizations.
  • Setup and maintain related infrastructure drawings.

 

The successful candidate will start on 01 November 2024.
